About me
This session will present tools to engage your students (and you!) in an active research project about NC birds. Is your school or home in a priority block? https://ebird.org/atlasnc/effortmap
A Certified NC Environmental Educator since 1996, CC King holds a Masters-level Professional Residency in Environmental Education from Teton Science School ('96), an MA in Geography from UNC Chapel Hill ('93) and a BA in English/Drama and Geology from Franklin and Marshall ('88).
CC loves horses, hiking and homeschooling. Her now role with the NC Bird Atlas involves recruiting people to visit priority blocks and record bird breeding behaviors. Students might live in a priority block, and they can visit them as well. Anyone can "adopt a block". CC works full-time for the NC Wildlife Resources Commission as a train-the-trainer.
This session MIGHT move outdoors. For best learning, preload Merlin and eBird into your phone and download bird packs near your home. This inclusive workshop adapts to grade levels. The content is interdisciplinary and responsive to multiple learning styles.
