About WMBD:
World Migratory Bird Day is a global campaign that raises awareness about migratory birds' incredible journeys. Founder in 1933 as International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD), now known as World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD), this event was established at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. In 2007, it found its home at Environment for the Americas (EFTA), a non-profit organization dedicated to bird conservation. EFTA has evolved IMBD with annual conservation themes covering topics like habitats, climate change, and protective laws. In 2018, IMBD merged with the Convetionon the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA), and the Flyway Partnership between East Asia and Australasia (EAAFP), creating WMBD to amplify bird conservation worldwide. This campaign organizes thousands of educational events each year to promote the protection of migratory birds.
